TRAINING COURSE

 

 Definition:

The MA History of Islamic Civilization program is a specialized postgraduate program which analyses the golden age of Islamic civilization throughout history.  Students learn Islamic teachings as well as the specialized courses the history of Islamic civilization and after successful completion of the program they will receive MA in the program.

 

Objectives:

      Recognizing the historical roots of Islamic civilization

      Recognizing the factors affecting the Islamic civilization

      Recognizing the cultural, intellectual developments in the Islamic civilization

      Recognizing the causes of decline in the Islamic civilization

 

Importance and Necessity:

In some certain points in the history the Muslims were on the highest degree of greatness and scientific and civilization developments. Some historians named the period as “Golden Age”. The Muslims’ industrial development was brought close to decline by the foreigners and colonizers. Recognizing this civilization and protecting the developments in the Islamic countries’ civilizations has positive consequences which will help Muslim thinkers to return back to their real situation and the original Islam school.

 

Program Structure:

      The MA History of Islamic Civilization Program is studied over 5 semesters

      System of education is credit based

      Theoretical credits are16 hours studied over 16-week semesters

      Practical credits are 32 hours

There are a total of 64 credits in the MA History of Shiite. The majority of the credits are theoretical which are researched based. The credits are divided into two categories as:

      a. Prerequisite courses

      b. Specialized courses

Role and Effectiveness:

The graduates of this program, with the acquired skills from historical studies, will be able to function as expert researchers inside and outside their countries and work in academic institutions. They can also continue their education and have a more effective role in expansion and elevation of the Shiite culture and civilization as well as exhibiting it to different societies and be useful in achieving the abovementioned objectives.
