TRAINING COURSE

Definition:

The MA Hadith Studies program is a specialized course in which the students acquire a deep knowledge about the modules and over successful completion of the program receive MA in Hadith Studies.

General Objectives of the Program:

  • Training lecturers in Hadith Sciences for international seminary schools and universities

  • Training researchers in the relevant fields

  • Instructing skilled individuals in the field of Hadith Studies

  • Preparing talented students for related PhD studies

 

Educational Objectives and Policies:

  • Making students research-oriented through allocating 30% of the credits to research works in related subjects

  • Avoiding over-reading in classes

  • Developing the skills at authoring, teaching and translating in relevant fields

  • Developing the ability of using Arabic and English texts in the field of Hadith studies

  • Internalizing moral and spiritual traits in students

  • Presenting a deep, analytical and comparative understanding of texts related to Hadith Studies

  • Providing a logical understanding of Hadith Studies

  • Developing the skills at dissemination of Quranic teachings and tradition through using relevant academic sources

  • Preparing and encouraging students to advance to doctoral level

  • Acquiring intermediate knowledge of reasoning jurisprudence and principles of Islamic law, as considered necessary

  • Providing familiarity with the orientalists’ viewpoints regarding Hadith Studies and critiquing and analyzing them

  • Developing the ability of using Hadith studies in intermediate level according to relevant principles and basics

  • Providing a general understanding of the Quranic and Ahl-e Bayt teachings and capability of collecting relevant information based on the subjects

  • Developing a syllabus based upon the contribution of students

 

Program Structure:

  • There are a total of 32 credit units including dissertation plus a 32 prerequisite credits (seminary courses and special requirements) studied over 5 semesters. (Maximum credits presented per semesters are 14)

  • Theoretical credits are16 hours studied over 16-week semesters

  • Students should submit a dissertation which accounts for 4 credits

Importance and Necessity:

Since the Holy Quran is the major source in the religion of Islam and as it provides the religious needs of Muslims and due to the fact that having this knowledge is necessary for researching and teaching Islamic subjects, it is a must to have Hadith Studies as an independent program so that the need of Islamic world for the lecturers and researchers is fulfilled.

Role and Effectiveness:

The graduates of this program, with the knowledge acquired, can become researchers and lecturers in relevant courses and play an effective role in elevation and expansion of Islamic culture and provides the others with this knowledge. They can also acquire the qualifications needed in doctoral level and advance to PhD and be more efficient for the aforesaid plans.
