TRAINING COURSE

 

Definition:

The PhD Shiite History is the highest academic and specialized program regarding the history of Shiite. Participants carry out a collection of research and taught programs and after successful completion of the modules they will receive PhD Shiite History. 

General Aims:

  • Instructing researchers and experts in the field of Shiite History

  • Training lecturers for graduate and postgraduate levels

  • Expanding the boundaries in the relevant area

  • Analyzing the historical developments in order to find the truths

  • Laying the groundwork for training Mojtahid in the field of Shiite History

  • Criticizing and explaining Shiism as one of the most effective Islamic sects in the history of Islam in an academic and methodological manner

  •  

Educational Policies:

  • Attaching importance to students’ moral and spiritual development

  • Encouraging students in research through allocating a minimum of 30 per cent of course unit time to research work (apart from dissertation)

  • Nourishing effective researchers so that they can acquire the latest related developments

  • Facilitating students’ access to the latest methods and tools used in research

  • Expanding students’ skills in teaching, disseminating, translating and authoring

  • Strengthening students’ proficiency in debates, criticizing and evaluating various fields and responding to modern questions and doubts regarding Shiite History

  • Attaching importance to innovation and production of theories and knowledge in the field of Shiite History

Admission:

Students’ master degrees must be in the field of Shiite History. The process of admission is based on the Admission General and Specific Regulations

Students holding other academic backgrounds must pass the prerequisites according to the regulations

Program Structure:

  • The program is studied over a maximum of 5 years

  • PhD Shiite History contains 58 credits

  • Theoretical and practical credits are respectively 16 and 32 hours.

  • Students can take between 6 to 10 credits each semester except for the 18-credit dissertation

  • Students must submit an 18-credit dissertation

Role and Effectiveness:

With the knowledge and research skills acquired, the graduates will be able to work in academic environments within the country and across national boundaries, produce knowledge and elevate and expand the Islamic culture and civilization with respect to Shiite history.

Importance and Necessity:

The Shiite school has encountered with numerous troubles in the history of Islam. A thorough and specialized understanding of the school of Shiism and its historical development will be effective in its expansion.

Any planning and Islamic dissemination concerning this school should be based on historical and academic information about governments, sects and Muslim thinkers. This would be achieved through running relevant educational courses. Therefore, arranging the PhD Shiite History can be effective in terms of showing Shiite school and improving the position of Shiism throughout the world. It can also be effective in analyzing the historical roots of the problems in the world of Islam especially the Shiite school in an academic and methodical way.
