Extracurricular cultural activities beside the educational programs, play an important role in increasing efficiency, motivation, spiritual and physical exhilaration and improving the spirit of group work. The most important extracurricular cultural activities of Al-Mustafa University are as follows:

1. Camps

Camps are held in different forms of long or short-term, for bachelors or families and with pilgrimage, tourism, cultural, sports, artistic or scientific approach. In addition to visiting historical and touristic places, the students and their families also enjoy various cultural and recreational programs.

 

2. Performing Different Traditions and Rituals

On different religious and national occasions, special traditions and rituals are performed for the students and their families, with the objective of deepening the Islamic values, boosting group work spirit and creating exhilaration and succulence.

 

3. Tooba Arts and Culture Exhibition

In the Tooba biannual arts and culture exhibition, the students and their families are given the opportunity to exhibit their cultural and artworks. At the end of the exhibition, the best works of each category are selected by the jury and the winners are presented with valuable prizes.

4. Kawsar Festival

In order to increase the scientific, cultural and artistic capabilities of spouse and children of non-Iranian students and spreading the pure Islamic teachings, Al-Mustafa University holds the Kawsar Festival. The objectives of the festival are:

 

A. Spread and deepening of Qur’anic and religious culture and thought in form of various and modern works of art;

B. Explanation, propagation and promotion of Islam’s beauties and pure Islamic and Qur’anic teachings with stress on spirituality and rationality;

C. Paving the way to motivation of Muslim women and their active and purposeful presence in the artistic arena;

D. Assessment of the existing opportunities and taking feedback of the courses offered to the spouse and children of the students;

E. Recognizing and developing the creativity and talent of students’ spouse and children;

F. Introducing the essence of Islamic art and its utilization in family;

G. Motivating spouse and children of students to participate in works of art;

H. Creating exhilaration, succulence and constructive interaction between the wives and children of the students;

I. Improving awareness about a Muslim woman’s duties within the family.

 

The themes and subjects of Kawsar Festival are:

Handicrafts: sewing, embroidery, gold work, ribbon work, carpet weaving, glim weaving, fancy carpet weaving, wood carving, foregrounding, pottery, miniature and illuminated manuscript, fabric works with soldering iron, flower making, cooking and baking.

Visual arts: Painting, sketching, graphics, imaging, photography, calligraphy and caricature.

Literary arts: Poetry, short stories, literary pieces.

Imaging arts: Fictional films, short films, documentaries, theatrical plays, clips and musical vidoes.

Informative: Websites, weblogs and software.

All works received by the festival are displayed in an exhibition, and at the end of the festival the best candidates of each category will win some prizes.

 

5. Cultural Competitions

These competitions are held on different occasions with the purpose of spreading Islamic values, and discovering and promoting the cultural and artistic talents. The subjects of these competitions include:

Book reading,

Essay writing,

Painting and sketching,

Caricature,

Photography,

Writing inspirational words,

Publishing magazines and periodicals,

Songs and hymns, etc.

 

6. Meeting the Sage and elites

Based on the impact of the outstanding scientific and religious personalities as role models on the students and their families and raising their scientific and moral levels, programs have been planned on various occasions where they could meet the high ranking scientific personalities and benefit from their presence and their valuable advices.

 

7. Supporting Cultural Societies and Institutes

In order to reinforce the spirit of team work and collaboration, to increase the cultural and social insight of the students, to create mutual understanding, national and international empathy, to systemize the group activities which will lend themselves to organizational activities, Al-Mustafa University supports the cultural societies and institutes. Similar to any other educational center or institute, the students of Al-Mustafa University, have created their national and international societies and organizations in which they perform cultural and artistic activities.

Some of the achievements of these organizations include: publishing tens of periodicals, different audio and video products, cultural and artistic software, informative web sites in different languages, and holding seminars and conferences.

250 societies and organizations, with more than 3500 members of Al-Mustafa University students of different nationalities, are presently active.
